News from The Yoga Place - October 2007

Dear Friends and Students of The Yoga Place,

The next session of yoga will begin on October 29th and the new schedule is now on the website. The session will be 7 weeks long and will run until December 22 but with a break for the week of Thanksgiving. There are a few changes in the schedule. Registration information is also available on the website.

It is with regret that I tell you that Laurence Couturier will no longer be teaching a regular class at The Yoga Place. She is an excellent yoga teacher and a dear friend to many. She has been taking some college classes and has become increasingly involved with school. She has agreed to consider substituting from time to time so we hope to see her in that capacity. The good news is that we will not be canceling any classes.

However, you will note a change in Tuesday's and Thursday's class schedule to coordinate with Francie and Elizabeth who will be picking up the slack. We also have changed the Wednesday morning class back to 9:00 am. We hope that this time change will suit most the students who come to that class and make it more convenient for others to join.

There is a very interesting program coming up at Gundersen Lutheran on October 17th from 12 noon - 1:30. Matt Sanford is an Iyengar yoga teacher who teaches from a wheelchair due to a serious accident. You may have seen an article about him in People magazine or on our bulletin board! He will be speaking on the mind body connection. You need to make a reservation by calling Lois Erickson at 775-3851 or emailing laericks@gundluth.org. The paper said the deadline was October 8th but you may still be able to get in.

One last thing: The 2007 Three for Bellur fundraising effort is underway. This is a nationwide effort to raise money for Mr. Iyengar?s home village of Bellur, India. The funds will go toward building much needed health and education facilities in the village. If every student of Iyengar yoga donated $3.00 (thus the name!) it would be a sizable contribution. If you would like to donate, there will be a donation box at The Yoga Place through this month. Any amount is appreciated.

Thanks again for your continued support. Enjoy the Fall!

Sincerely,
Chris
