I Believe I Can Fly

Starting next Monday at 6:30-7:45pm, during the month of March, we will be offering a special 4-week series on Arm Balances. Just by saying or writing “arm balances”, I already know so many minds are shutting down or starting to make the list of reasons they “can’t do”. I know this because I have very often been that person with that mind.

I am not a natural arm balancer in yoga, which is why I feel like I can encourage those who struggle to take flight! Yes, it takes building some physical strength and flexibility, just like ANY yoga posture does. But more importantly in yoga, an approach with an open mind is what truly transforms. We have to be willing to play and explore, to not be perfect in presentation, and most of all have a little faith – to “believe” arm balancing is possible!

The beauty of this category of poses is that it can make us feel like a kid again. It brings in a beginner’s mind as we just attempt something knew or unknown. This is not the the yoga of deep penetration, but a class that could uncover some hidden gems in your practice, some new areas of the body that might lack attention, or even just a glimpse at a new pose you never thought possible.

We will take this journey of discovery through some foundational work of pose shapes and strengths, and of course use props to get some lift when it may seem out of reach.
